Are we worthy of the Name Christian

   Wednesday with Jesus

Dear Bretheren in Christ,

“And the disciples were first called Christians at Antioch.” — Acts 11:26

In Antioch, the followers of Jesus received the name Christians. It identified people whose lives were associated with Jesus Christ. They proclaimed His Gospel, loved one another, cared for the poor, and witnessed to their faith through their lives. The name was not merely a religious identity; it was a call to reflect the character of Christ.

But what about Christians today? We bear His name, celebrate His teachings, and worship in His churches. Yet, do people recognize Jesus through our words, attitudes, and actions? Do our families experience His love, the poor receive His compassion, and our enemies encounter His forgiveness?

Jesus said, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35).

Being a Christian is not merely bearing the name of Christ; it is revealing the nature of Christ through our lives.

Let us ask ourselves today: If people judge Christ by the way we live, what picture of Him will they see?
Are We Worthy of the Name Christian?
