Love never keeps the accounts of wrongs
WEDNESDAY WITH LORD JESUS
Grace and peace to you in the Name of Lord Jesus Christ!
Dear Bretheren in Christ,
In Paul’s famous chapter on love, one small phrase carries a world of wisdom for marriage and family life: “Love keeps no record of wrongs” (1 Corinthians 13:5). This doesn’t mean love ignores pain or pretends offenses didn’t happen. Rather, it means true love refuses to collect past mistakes as weapons for future battles.
In family life, arguments escalate not because of the present issue, but because a list of old wrongs is unrolled and replayed. That is not love—it is silent resentment. Paul calls us to a higher path: forgiveness that wipes the slate clean, grace that remembers mercy, not mistakes.
This verse reminds family members that love is not bookkeeping. Marriage is not about who’s winning; it’s about staying united even when we fail. God does not hold our sins against us when we repent (Psalm 103:12), and He calls us to extend that same grace in our closest relationships.
Lord, help us to love with Your love—a love that keeps no record of wrongs. Teach us to forgive quickly, speak kindly, and cover each other’s flaws with grace. May our family relationships reflect the mercy You show us every day. Amen.
Prayerful regards,
