Small try is dangerous

Hey dear young friends in Christ,

One of the biggest pressures you face today is the invitation to “just try it”—alcohol, vaping, drugs, pills, or anything that promises excitement, escape, or acceptance. But here’s the truth: substances don’t give you freedom; they quietly take it away. The Bible wisely says, “The wise see danger and take refuge” (Proverbs 22:3). That means true strength is not trying harmful things—it is walking away before they trap you.

Many teens fall into substances not because they are bad, but because they want to fit in or hide stress and sadness. But substances never solve problems; they only create more. They cloud your mind, damage your body—the temple of God—and steal your confidence, future, money, and relationships. What starts as a “small try” often becomes a chain around your life.

So make your “NO” strong before the temptation comes. Prepare your answer now. Choose friends who celebrate you for who you are, not for what you smoke or drink. Keep your mind busy with sports, music, study, prayer, and good company. When you feel stressed, talk to someone—don’t escape into anything that harms your beautiful life.

Remember: You have dreams to achieve, a body to protect, and a God who created you for greatness. Substances can’t add anything to you—but saying no will protect everything about you.

Jesus loves you!
